Happy Father’s Day!
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and Cahoon Care Associates would like to wish all the Dads and Grand-Dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day. We’d also like to offer a few gift ideas that will make the day extra special:
1) Time Together
The number one gift that you can give him is quality time together. Really. At this point, Gramps probably has all the “stuff” he could want–and then some. But unhurried time spent with children and grandchildren truly is priceless. And if you can accomplish a few chores for Pop Pop, all the better. He will look forward to it after you make a plan, he will enjoy it while you are together and the moments remembered will make him happy long afterward. Capture the moments in photographs and create a little photo album.
2) Photo Gifts
There are many online photo companies, but two very good ones are Mixbook and Shutterfly. (See a full comparison chart here). You can create a photo album or calendar and put your photos on everything from a smartphone case to a fleece blanket to a water bottle to a shopping bag.
Now Grandpa can snuggle up with the family anytime!
3) Jitterbug phone
Most smartphones are complicated; the letters are hard to see, and the keypads are tiny. The solution might be the large-text Jitterbug phone.
4) Large print keyboard
If your special guy has vision issues, whether temporary or permanent, a large print keyboard for the computer might be the answer. You can save him the straining and hunching over with a magnifying glass and make life a little easier again.
5) DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Gifts
Of course, anything homemade, no matter what will be cherished far more than any store-bought gift. How about some salad dressing that’s delicious for him? Melissa Rousseau shares the Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Sun Dressing recipe on her blog Vibrant Mind + Body.
Or, you could give him some I.O.U. coupons for grass mowing, home repairs, breakfast in bed or even closet organizing.
6) Gift Certificates
Gift certificates are always welcome: massage treatments are relaxing and therapeutic or how about dinner at his favorite restaurant?
We hope this helps inspire you…but only you know what makes your Dad smile. Have a great day, and don’t forget to tell him you love him. 😉
