Home Care – Plymouth, MA

Historically also known as Plimoth, Plymouth is a town that serves as the county seat of Plymouth County, Massachusetts, in the United States. This town is situated within the Greater Boston area and holds significant importance in American history, folklore, and culture, earning it the moniker "America's Hometown." Plymouth is famously recognized as the site where the Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower founded a colony in 1620, marking the establishment of New England. This town is the oldest municipality in New England and among the oldest in the United States. One of its most notable historical events is the First Thanksgiving feast. Plymouth functioned as the capital of Plymouth Colony from its inception in 1620 until the colony merged with the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1691. The area was named Plymouth by the English explorer John Smith during his 1614 voyage, after the city in South West England, and he coined the region 'New England.' Coincidentally, after a failed attempt to cross the Atlantic from Southampton, the Mayflower eventually departed for America from Plymouth, England, in 1620.

Located about 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Boston, Plymouth is part of a region known as the South Shore. During the 19th century, the town flourished as a hub for rope-making, fishing, and shipping industries and was the home of the Plymouth Cordage Company, once the world's largest rope-making company. While it remains an active port, its primary industries today are healthcare and social services. Plymouth Municipal Airport serves the town and is home to the Pilgrim Hall Museum, the oldest continuously operating museum in the United States. By area, Plymouth is the largest municipality in Massachusetts and southern New England. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the population of Plymouth was 61,217. It shares the distinction of being one of the two seats of Plymouth County, with the other being Brockton.
